Photographing in the Exclusion Zone
Back in 2008, two urban exploration photographers came together with an idea for a project that would take them to the irradiated landscape of Chornobyl’s Exclusion Zone and the ghost city of Prypyat. This idea would lead them not only on a fantastic journey into a wild UE landscape, but would test their patience as they navigated the bureaucratic waters of two countries trying to secure grants, travel documents, and government permission to photograph this military-controlled zone.

Volatile Particles: 25 Years After Chornobyl
Part of the CONTACT Toronto Photography Festival
Two Canadian artists document Chernobyl 25 years after the nuclear disaster while the world watches another unfold. Volatile Particles contrasts man’s impact on the environment with nature’s resilience. The photographs blend images of normality (the ghosts of the past) superimposed on post-Chernobyl devastation and infestation (the present-day stark reality amid the afterlife of the Exclusion Zone). Poignant, moving and relevant – this is a timely introspection addressing our ever-evolving nuclear depression.

The Sex Show
Presented by Gallery 1313, their annual sex show is a curated group exhibition including a variety of media and a diverse interpretation of what is sexual. Curated by Phil Anderson, it attempts to push the boundaries of the definition of sex. It approaches the topic of sex from all angles, exhibiting works that vary on a broad scale, from art that is more explicit to art that is more elusive in content. Two of my pieces have been accepted into the show

The Apothecary’s Assitant
As part of the Junction BIA’s CONTACT Photography Show
Grainy images of potions, lotions, and elixirs from an old apothecary’s shop evoke a time long before modern pharmaceuticals when herbal medicinals shared the shelf with tinctures, and morphine was used to treat burns and help during childbirth. Your local apothecary was part medical advisor, part medicinal dispenser, and occasionally a surgeon and midwife. Their work with herbal and chemical ingredients in these tinctures and potions may be regarded as the precursor of modern chemistry and pharmacology.
